My art takes on many forms and reflects many influences. One constant in the past year has been an insistence on physical materials vs digital media. My paintings and drawings are most important to me when hand crafted and without reliance upon computers or filters. I feel like any mistake I make becomes a new avenue to explore and work off of. This notion is lost in digital media where you can just press “un-do”.

I am a mixed media artist. My main focuses include characters and creatures, landscapes and surreal and psychedelic visions. These works can range from completely imagined visions to pieces that reference artists from the past and present that I am exploring.

My work is influenced by artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, Nicole Eisenman, Vincent van Gogh and Kathe Kollwitz. At times I respond to iconic imagery by artists, especially images concerning cities and technology.  I create works which to me are symbolic of human emotions, experiences or future realms.

I want the viewer to be consumed with what they are seeing. I do this in part by overwhelming them with color, detail, and multiple characters. I want my work to envelop the audience. Whether through seedy bars or portrayals of surreal dystopian realms I strive to tell stories and convey a sense of place.
